GARDENA, Calif., July 11, 2023 – Cup Noodles, one of the beloved brands of Nissin Foods USA, announces Team Cup Noodles, the official ambassador team for the iconic instant ramen noodle brand. Surfer Kanoa Igarashi, professional skateboarder Dashawn Jordan and snowboarder Lucas Foster embody the brand’s core pillars, together joining Cup Noodles as part of the brand’s inaugural line-up and commitment to the action sports category.
With the mission to unite action sports fanatics and noodle connoisseurs across the country, each Team Cup Noodles athlete will capture the innovative spirit of the brand in and out of competitions throughout the season, share inspiring stories and highlight captivating experiences that celebrate the camaraderie of the surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding communities. Fans will have the chance to interact directly with their favorite Team Cup Noodles sports star through social media content, on-site fan activations and exclusive events that will leave them inspired to pursue their passions fearlessly.
Competing at the highest level in skateboarding, and a former USA Skateboarding national team member, Dashawn Jordan is currently carving out his pathway to the Paris Olympics in 2024. Dashawn has partnered with some of the largest brands in the market, and in every case he makes authenticity a priority. A Nike athlete, a music artist, a cultural tastemaker, and a business owner; Dashawn is consistent in his work ethic, his drive, and as a role model, and we think he would make a fine addition to this campaign.
Kanoa grew up watching his dad surf every day in Huntington Beach, California. At the age of 3, he was done watching and jumped in the water himself. He was an instant talent and quickly commanded the attention of the surfing community. From 2008 to 2009, at 11 years old, Kanoa gained NSSA fame by claiming a stunning 30 contest wins to set a new record for the most victories in a single season. At 14 years old, Kanoa became the youngest NSSA competitor to ever win an Under-18 Title.
Kanoa is nearing the end of one of the best Championship Tour seasons of his career, currently ranked 5th in the world after just having taken home a Silver Medal in the 2020 Olympic Games. Igarashi’s consistent upward trajectory in the WSL Championship Tour rankings and the Olympics shows that he is arguably the best surfer in the world and will be for years to come.
Kanoa’s popularity remains on the rise in the US, while he is already an established celebrity in Japan/Asia. The Japanese media produced a number of documentaries about Kanoa, causing him to be recognized quite frequently when he visits his native country. After becoming the face of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Igarashi grew even more accustomed to his new iconic status.
When he’s is not dominating on the world tour, you will most likely find Kanoa surfing his beloved south side Huntington Pier. Although Kanoa thrives on traveling the world to various tour stops, his native “Surf City” Huntington Beach will always remain a special place for him. Now, with an Olympic medal under his belt, Kanoa is eager to add the first of many WSL World Championships to his list of accomplishments.
While some riders may take a decade to reach their goals in the competitive field of snowboarding, Lucas Foster has gone from a rookie competing in his first pro event in 2018 to a Team USA Olympian 3 seasons later. Coming from Telluride, CO where there’s not a halfpipe in sight, Lucas grew up snowboarding on all aspects of terrain giving him a unique style, mindset and approach to bring into the halfpipe. Lacking resources in Telluride, Lucas built his career off of consistent refinement and self development physically and mentally. This has shown Lucas how much is possible if you step out of “the box” and take steps forward daily in areas where most athletes don’t think of. Lucas has the intentions of being a trailblazer in action sports, being an athlete that can lead the competitive scene while still being rooted in the rawness and culture of snowboarding. At the end of the day, it’s all about leaving a legacy that makes snowboarding more fun, accessible, free and welcoming.
